This page reports my voluntary ministry activities for the information of those who take a special interest in my work.
Dear Brethren... This report covers the second quarter of 2014.
During April, May, and, June 2014, I presented 21 Sunday lessons in Bundaberg. These included 11 sermons, and 10 Bible class studies. In the classes we completed the studies in Galatians, and commenced in Ephesians.
The Bible class studies in Ephesians are brand new lessons. Each lesson covers around half a chapter. The translation and comments are easy to understand. We take a few verses at a time and relate them to the general themes on which Paul writes. We also emphasise that his message applies to all Christians.
Most of the sermons were for encouragement and the support of faith. The folk at Bundaberg church are having a difficult time with many trials. So I preached lessons such as, "Sure of Salvation"; "Is There No Balm in Gilead?"; "God Guard, Goad, and Guide You"; "The Love of God".
In the quarter, I added five new lessons to the simplybible.com website. These included lessons on Ephesians. I also added one new magazine page and some slide shows.
Behind the scenes, I carried on upgrading pages as mentioned last report. The improvements mainly concern the titles and headings but include some editing where it was obvious that something needed to be more presentable. The 2014 upgrade is 85% completed now. There are about 400 pages remaining, partly upgraded, but not yet finished.
The figures for page views over the quarter were pleasing. For April, May, June respectively, the numbers of pages viewed were: 22,769; 29,185; 40,284 (source Awstats). That's about 1000 page views per day on average. The estimated number of different visitors to the site this quarter exceeded 43,000.
The visitors to simplybible.com are spread around the world: The USA and Canada, Australia, the Philippines, the United Kingdom, India, Africa, Singapore, Spain, Norway, and a sprinkling from some other countries. About half the visitors are accessing the website on mobile devices such as tablets and phones. I have worked at making the website compatible with such devices.
In June we made a short visit to Melbourne, and on the two Sundays we attended Heidelberg West church of Christ. It was good to see many old familiar faces, but also good to see many new and unfamiliar faces. This church has been around a long time (I used to often go there when I was a teenager) and it still seems to be very much alive.
Again may I say how much I appreciate those who keep on helping me in the Lord’s work. “Without you, I could not do it.”
Love and best wishes in Jesus.
