Word Study: Boldness

Definitions: Boldness is an attitude of strong confidence in God, such that godly things are said and done openly without fear of the consequences.

  Boldness in prayer

  • Hebrews 4:16 "...come boldly to the throne of grace..."
  • Hebrews 10:19 "...having boldness to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus..."
  • 1John 5:14 "...this is the confidence that we have in him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us"

  Boldness for the Judgment

  • 1John 2:28 "...when he appears we may have confidence and not be ashamed..."

  Boldness in speaking God’s word

Comment: Boldness is not arrogance. With arrogance, the trust is in self. With boldness, the trust is in God.
